Preacher actually felt awesome to me, a lot of times. "Preacher won this game" is a line I said a lot; it's got insane value, he's a good blocker, the tokens+Sorin interaction is crazy good, the draw factor can carry the game by itself... I'll never say it's a bad card for our deck, even if we're packed with 3cmc drops.
I find preacher is only great in matchups where you're happy with either "bonus" happening. Against Niv to Light or UW control, you're usually going to be behind on life by the time he attacks, maybe even the first few times, and that 1/1 lifelink isn't helping you. Against red aggressive decks like slickshot, the lifelinker can help but it might be too late, or losing a life can be just what they need to have you in lethal range. Against Mono white or the mirror, preacher is great.
I feel so betrayed, I wanted to see Mengu play Izzet!

Yeah it doesnt cast fable so you need to replace other red sources / useful black lands or mutavault. I think mu vs control is good

I dislike leyline in general in lower power level format
Why not liliana on the sideboard? I see it more powerful than investigator in all matchups except monoblack
I think you need leyline to ever have a chance to beat the soul cauldron decks

No it s bad card disadvantage, in that mu is very important to be up on cards
